Choice Cleaners Information

Owners Tom and Karolyn Upham started in the dry-cleaning business in October 1965. They trained with PBMA Cleaners in Monroe, Wisconsin, completing their training in December 1965. January 1966 they opened and operated the PBMA Cleaners in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin until 1974. January 1975 Tom and Karolyn moved to Janesville and went to work for Robinsons Cleaners (Ray Chris, Inc.) managing three One-Hour-Martinizing stores in Janesville, one store in Edgerton, one in Fort Atkinson and two stores in Beloit. September 1991, Tom and Karolyn left Robinsons and opened their own dry cleaner in Madison, Wisconsin, operating under the name The Finishing Touch. They opened their first drop location in the Creston Park Laundromat in March 1992 under the Choice Cleaners name. In October 1997, they moved their production plant from Madison to Janesville, eventually closing the Madison store in March 1998. Tom and Karolyn now have 3 locations operating under the Choice Cleaners name.
