ChicagoWHPC Information

Chicago Women in HPC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with 300+ members working to expand access to high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies. Our mission is to empower women and other underrepresented groups in advanced computing, with a particular focus on creating accessible education and workforce pathways for communities historically excluded from these fields. Our flagship initiative, Quantum × HPC Pathways (quantum-whpc.streamlit.app), connects education, workforce development, and community engagement around Chicago's growing quantum and advanced-computing ecosystem. Its public platform provides personalized career pathways, a regional ecosystem map, tiered learning resources for different skill levels, and accessible information addressing common misconceptions about quantum technology. Chicago Women in HPC translates this mission into hands-on learning and community programming. We organize Quantum Meets HPC with the National Quantum Algorithm Center, Code Green Jam, an energy-efficient GPU programming series with NVIDIA, and an applied AI workshop series for university researchers. We also co-organize MidQWest, a regional quantum hackathon connecting students with practical experience and the broader quantum community. Our goal is simple: ensure that the people and communities historically underrepresented in advanced computing have the knowledge, skills, networks, and opportunities to participate in—and help shape—the next generation of HPC, AI, and quantum technologies.
