Chiasma Information

Chiasma is New Zealand’s leading student-run organisation that connects students and academia with the wider STEM industry. Our mission is to inspire and support our members to develop a successful career in the wider STEM industries by providing them with the necessary skills, networks, and experiences. In turn, our hope is for these innovative, well-connected, and commercially savvy students and graduates to contribute to the growth of New Zealand’s knowledge-based economy. Chiasma was founded in 2004 by Priv Bradoo, Swati Sharma and Daniel Sun, three PhD students in the University of Auckland's Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Since then, Chiasma has grown into a thriving organisation across New Zealand. The beating heart of Chiasma is comprised of our four centres in Auckland, Manawatu, Wellington, and Dunedin. Each centre runs their own flavour of networking events, workshops, panel discussions, mentorships and internship programmes, and site visits tailored towards the local students and industry.
