Mental illness in the workplace is very common and can have a major impact on the organisation and employee engagement. The primary issue is that the number of employees who are confident providing mental health support to their colleagues is extremely low. Some mental health training provides exhaustive diagnostic information and ‘death by PowerPoint’ that overwhelms and, quite frankly, bores the audience, detracting from the training’s main purpose - teaching people practical skills and strategies for effectively dealing with mental health issues among colleagues, friends, and themselves. Additionally, some mental health training is delivered by facilitators with little-to-no mental health qualifications. ChekMate is not comfortable with this. The founders of ChekMate identified an opportunity to deliver practical, ‘no fuss’ mental health and wellbeing training delivered solely by relatable qualified mental health experts. ChekMate’s training focuses less on complex clinical information (which has a tendency to confuse) and more on practical strategies and solutions.
