Cheapy was DT Group’s discount chain operating in Sweden. The first store opened in Kristianstad on October 17, 2002. Today, Cheapy operates 31 small DIY stores in Sweden with focus on selling and distributing quality building materials to consumers at the market’s lowest price. The central administration was based in Ängelholm in southern Sweden. With rather small stores and a well-assorted selection of building materials, Cheapy always offered DIY customers the best prices. The assortment was carefully chosen and regulated according to the current season, so the customer could shop at Cheapy all year long. The chain’s prices were very competitive, and the concept was tailored to consumers who wanted extremely low prices rather than a wide product range and elaborate service. As of 31 July 2014 the Cheapy brand ceased to exist. The company was sold off to Jem & Fix and sister company Beijer Bygg.
