Docmap AS is a Norwegian software company and provider of Docmap® world class solutions within HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) and operations management. Docmap works in close collaboration with existing customers worldwide to build competitive solutions for the future. Docmap AS is based in Oslo, Norway and was founded as an independent company in May 2005. The in-house R&D department is based in Stavanger on the south-western coast of the country. After 15 years of development, Docmap® is today the leading vendor of total HSEQ management solutions for the maritime sector and delivers continuous improvements to companies within shipping, offshore, health, aviation and transport all over the world. Ever since the first design of Docmap® from 1997, two main requirements provide the foundation for the solution: 1. Docmap® as a web-solution with no other requirement to the client than a standard browser. 2. Docmap® should be based on the Quality Circle known as PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), adapted to modern business by Dr. W. Edwards Deming. The philosophy of Dr. Deming has been summarized as follows: By adopting appropriate principles of management, organizations can increase quality and simultaneously reduce costs (by reducing waste, rework, staff attrition and litigation while increasing customer loyalty). The key is to practice continual improvement and think of services as a system, not as bits and pieces.
