Chameleon Theatre Company was formed in San Francisco in 1995 by Lee Kiszonas and Walter Niejadilik. Chameleon produced 10 plays from a Gay & Lesbian perspective over the next 5 years, including plays by Tennessee Williams, Joe Orton and Lee Kiszonas. Walter left the company in 2000 and Chameleon's focus changed to women's theatre. Highlights from this period include Lee's play Killing Stalin, Blake Heathcote's Revenge of the Woman Dressed Largely in Black and Lorae Parry's Eugenia. Lee moved to Philadelphia in 2007 to take care of her aging mother and the company went into limbo. Chameleon emerged from hibernation in 2011 with the assistance of new staff in Philadelphia and old collaborators in San Francisco.
