Challengers provides fun play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people in the South East. At Challengers, disabled children are able to have fun playing and making friends in a safe and inclusive environment, where they also develop vital social, co-ordination and communication skills. Aside from children and young people having fun, our services also fulfill another purpose - we give parents and families a much needed break. Caring for a disabled child can be exhausting, and often Challengers is the only option available to families due to many disabled children being excluded from mainstream activities. As an organisation we rely heavily on the support of our local community and businesses, and we are incredibly lucky to have such great supporters. As a local charity we don’t always have the funds and profile of bigger national charities have, but what we are able to do is be reactive in our community. We can identify where the needs are and ensure that we make every effort to fill that gap in services. This means we really see the difference that funding makes.
