CH4mber finds the leakiest orphaned oil and gas wells, measures the methane they vent as found, and plugs them permanently, funded by carbon credits. Most of the methane from orphaned wells comes from a small share of them, and public plugging programs rarely choose wells by how much they leak. We rebuild the state record, survey wells on the ground and measure each leak at the wellhead before anything is touched. Since 2024 we have visited more than 5,000 wells across six states and found 145 leaking at the wellhead. We are a licensed, bonded and insured oil and gas operator in Oklahoma, which lets us take responsibility for a well and plug it. We plugged our first well, Schnitzer #2 in Alfalfa County, in September 2025. We are a development partner on Isometric's Orphaned Well Plugging Protocol, which requires every leak to be measured on site before plugging and every plugged well to be rechecked afterwards.
