CKUW is a true Community/Campus radio station. Campus/Community radio is just that, a reflection of the community that owns and creates the programs - not a preprogrammed infomercial for big business. CKUW is people driven not profit driven. As a non profit corporation, CKUW is controlled by the Board of Directors, Staff, and volunteers. Because of this grass roots control, the programming is a reflection of the true interests and concerns of the volunteers and the local community.

The Smithers Community Radio Society is an incorporated non-profit that manages a locally supported, volunteer operated community radio station (93.9FM). Broadcasting from the historic Central Park Train Car, our programming focuses on local artists, non-mainstream Canadian music, and commentary reflecting the community's diverse perspectives. Mission: A uniquely styled nonprofit volunteer produced radio and arts cultural engine focusing on inclusivity, sustainability, partnerships, innovation, and fun. We are certified by the CRTC to broadcast at 50 watts using the call sign of CICK and frequency of 93.9 FM.
