This year, Centers enters its 50th year and has much to celebrate. Thousands of people depend on Centers every day to build their personal capacities, enter substantial employment, and strengthen their families. We specialize in the type of direct community services that secure the well-being of people of all ages: childcare and early childhood development, family services, youth development, youth employment, workforce development, violence prevention, and senior services. Our current reach across Chicago's South Sides is broad and deep. Tying together our multiple services and approaches, we have adopted the Aspen Institute's "2gen" model focused on engaging multiple generations in practices that build economic security and social capital. We address some of the city's most challenging issues. As our communities have coped with violence and loss, we have increased our critical capacities in the areas of workforce development, including for youth as well as adults who face structural barriers to workforce entry. Among other initiatives focused on violence prevention, we are a leading South Side partner in READI to serve individuals with high exposure to violence and trauma, and we have expanded our counseling and youth development services. Our signature day care centers nurture young children and empower families. We operate safe, well-appointed centers that support the care and development of infants and young children, open for extended hours to respond to family need. Centers is a Headstart and Early Headstart provider. We are a community anchor at a time of neighborhood re-investment. Since its founding years, Centers has been most closely identified with our origins in Bronzeville - still home to our headquarters and the location of many of our signature programs.
