The Center for Jewish Genetics was founded in 1999 to provide public and professional education about health issues affecting the Jewish population. A cooperative effort of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, the Center is funded in part by a grant from the Michael Reese Health Trust, as well as local and national organizations, foundations, and individual donors. The Center's mission is to empower community members to seek out information and prevention strategies for Jewish genetic disorders and genetic mutations associated with hereditary cancers
