The University of Barcelona (UB) is Spain’s leading research university, publishing more research than any other Spanish institution with the exception of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The UB has 106 departments and more than 5,000 full-time researchers, technicians and research assistants, most of whom work in the UB’s 243 research groups as recognized and supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2010 the UB was awarded 175 national research grants and 17 European grants and participated in over 500 joint research projects with the business sector, generating an overall research income of 70 million euros. The work of these groups is overseen by the UB’s research centres and institutes which collaborate with the leading research institutions and networks in Spain and abroad. The UB is also home to three large research foundations: the Barcelona Science Park Foundation (PCB), which includes the Institute of Biomedical Research (IRBB); the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS); and the Bellvitge Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBELL). The guidelines for research policy are drawn up by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research. Research activities are managed by the UB office Research Management (OGR), which is in charge of national research programs, the UB office European Research Projects (OPER), which is responsible for European projects, and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG),

University of Navarra is a private research university. Its mission is to seek and convey the truth, contribute to the academic, cultural, and personal growth of its students, provide appropriate development opportunities to its faculty and staff, and broadly cultural extension work and social development, with a clear purpose of service. The University of Navarra was created in 1952. It has more than 11,000 students in undergraduate, master and doctoral degrees in its 6 campuses: Pamplona, San Sebastian, Barcelona, Madrid, New York and Munich. University of Navarra also has a hospital medical center characterized by a high degree of medical specialization, constant technological renewal and teamwork. It is a private non-profit hospital that makes constant efforts to promote research in close collaboration with other centers of the University of Navarra and the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA). One of the latest projects at University of Navarra is its Museum of Contemporary Art with the goals of preserve, exhibit, research, and publish original works of art to boost the academic goals of University of Navarra and to enrich the cultural lives of the city of Pamplona, the region of Navarra, and society in general.

La Universidad Complutense de Madrid es una universidad pública de calidad al servicio de la sociedad. Sus estudiantes son el eje principal de su actividad por ello, la UCM apuesta por una formación integral y crítica del más alto nivel. Su hemeroteca recibe más de 40.000 publicaciones y revistas científicas periódicas y es uno de los principales suministradores de publicaciones científicas al conjunto de universidades del país. Cuenta también con una extensa oferta cultural con la que disfrutar del arte, la literatura, la música, el teatro, museos, festivales y con más de 250.000m2 de instalaciones deportivas para practicar el deporte que se quiera. Toda la actividad complutense gira en torno a principios de democracia, transparencia, sostenibilidad del campus, accesibilidad real y virtual, preservación del medio ambiente y compromiso con el entorno social y económico.
