Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut (AUB) bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. On June 27, 2019, the commission reaffirmed the university’s accreditation. The University of Balamand is a non-profit and independent institution of higher education. It was founded in 1988 by Patriarch Ignatius IV, Patriarch of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.
