The Fred Hollows Foundation
The Fred Hollows Foundation is inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993). Working in more than 25 countries, our vision is for a world where no one is needlessly blind, and Indigenous Australians enjoy the same health and life expectancy as other Australians. Fred believed local people were best placed to deliver health care to their communities. The Foundation seeks to strengthen and sustain local systems, both internationally and in our Indigenous Australia Program. We bring resources, knowledge and capacity building to partners who contribute their own knowledge, capabilities and resources. We work together to achieve our ambitious goal. Authorised by A. Coptic Orphans
Coptic Orphans is an award-winning international Christian development organization that has transformed the lives of over 75,000 children in Egypt since 1988. We believe that through long-term programs that focus on education, we can affect the vicious cycle of poverty. When most people think of “orphans,” they think of children in orphanages who have no family at all. In fact, many orphanages in Egypt are filled with children who have families only because their widowed mothers cannot afford to feed them. This is an injustice. Coptic Orphans focuses on the children most likely to face the deadly combination of poverty and social injustice, but who have the greatest potential to change their lives and the lives of others. Through child sponsors and a network of over 800 village-based on the ground volunteers, churches, and organizations, our programs help children stay in school (and stay with their families) and by God’s grace, we empower thousands of children to reclaim their dignity and self-worth. We make a covenant with orphaned families in Egypt to stay with a child until the end of their highest education, as long as they also work hard to make full use of every possible educational opportunity they have. Our vision is a peaceful, prosperous Egypt where children thrive, and a vibrant, engaged Diaspora. Our team of over 150 trained professionals works from our headquarters just outside Washington, D.C. and from offices in Egypt, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Diakonia
Diakonia is a force, a movement, a hope. We never stop, always evolve and fight tirelessly for a just, equal and sus-tainable future. For a world without violence, oppression and poverty. A world where gender justice and peace are not just a possibility, but a reality. Where we together take responsibility for each other and for the earth. A future where patriarchal structures are a memory. Where ALL people are free. In many ways the world is a better place than when we started our work in 1966. But at the same time, we see worrying signs of the progress being under threat. Growing resistance against gender equality, a backlash for democracy and a global climate crisis. The worlds challenges are complex. So, to create lasting change, sustainable and long-term change, we need to be smart. That is where Diakonia comes in. We have sprung from Christianity’s struggle for justice, and we stand firm on that foundation as we fight for the equal value of all human beings. We firmly believe in people’s ability create positive change. When we come together, we CAN change the world. We know we can, we have been doing so for over fifty years. To find smart solutions we need to really understand the problem and its roots. As lasting change is our goal, we need to change the underlying norms, power relations and structures that hold people in violence, oppression and poverty. To do that we work closely together with the people affected. We analyse, adapt and adjust our methods depending on where we are and what we are changing. We are not looking for quick fixes. We know that for change to happen we need three parts: knowledge, mobilisation and action. The first part is that drive and passion combined with knowledge of our rights. But for this to transform into actual change people need to come together, grow together and mobilize. Only then is the third part possible. Action. Rights can be claimed, defended, expressed and advocated depending on each context.
