Cause Première is a non-governmental organization based in southern Senegal with over 17 years of experience. We work with the local community to empower women through social enterprise and educational programs. We also design and implement grassroots initiatives focusing on child protection, education, health, and peace. Our mission is to empower women, improve the lives of children and promote peace and good citizenship through the development of sustainable grassroots initiatives. We were founded in response to the escalation of the Casamance Conflict in January 1995. Based in Ziguinchor in the southern portion of Senegal, Cause Première was recognized as an Association by the Ministry of Interior in 1997, attained NGO status from the Senegalese government in 2003, and was granted Special Consultative Status by ECOSOC in 2010. Cause Premiere is currently in the process of transforming the organization, which seeks to improve our effectiveness and efficiency in delivering projects to the local community. .
