Caterina's Club Information

In 2005, Chef Bruno Serato, owner of the famous Anaheim White House Restaurant, and his mother, Caterina, visited Anaheim's Boys and Girls Club. Here his mother noticed a 6-year-old boy eating potato chips for dinner because his family could not afford nor had access to prepare a proper meal. Caterina insisted that Bruno make some pasta for the child. They soon realized that many more hungry 'motel children' needed a nutritional meal, so Bruno began making pasta for 72 children five nights per week. Today, Bruno and Caterina's generosity has expanded to feeding nearly 5,000 kids, five nights per week, over 18 years and totaling over 8.5 MILLION meals. In addition to feeding children, CaterinaClub'slub "Welcome Home Program" provides the first and last month's rent to working families with children to move them out of unsafe motel living and into a proper residence. Caterina's Club holds luncheons every few months where guests are greeted with Champagne, served a gourmet meal, and dine while viewing a fashion show sponsored by local Anaheim boutiques. Bruno entirely underwrites these luncheons, and 100% of the funds generated from these luncheons go directly to the Caterina's Club. These generous donations of Caterina's Club luncheons have allowed the program to donate a 12-passenger van to transport the children from where they live in local motels to the Boys & Girls Clubs. This transportation was also extended to their families to go to and from a medical clinic in Santa Ana. Caterina's Club has contributed to a free dental clinic and piano lessons for the Boys & Girls Clubs members. The children get one-on-one tutoring daily, allowing them to achieve in school. In addition to the tutoring, upgraded computer software was also provided to aid the children in furthering their education.
