CASMEO is the organization responsible for developing, administering, and approving the procedures for school districts to establish a STEM Community School District. Senate Bill 1181 was signed in to law in 2014 and it enables communities to collaborate with Government, local businesses, local community colleges/universities, career techs, etc in order to demonstrate that their district is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-focused. Access to the SB 1181 officially known as "Oklahoma - A STEM state of mind" can be found by clicking here. The STEM Community School District initiative supports Governor Mary Fallin's Oklahoma Works initiative - that is - "to increase the wealth of all Oklahomans through facilitating quality employment for workers and ready availability of highly skilled talent for business and industry. The initiative is a coalition of state agencies, educational institutions, businesses and other partners. Download the application and guidelines by clicking here.
