Cartesian Solutions, LLC(CS, LLC) guides hospitals and clinics, medical insurers, government agencies, and businesses integrate care for their constituencies. With the consulting organization, CS, LLC: 1) creates a vision and plan for value-based medical and behavioral health (BH) care in an integrated medical system; 2) measures outcomes from broad-based and sustainable integrated medical and BH care delivery; and 3) reverses high healthcare service use in costly patients with multiple chronic conditions. CS, LLC also assists health policy organizations and accreditation companies develop health policies and accreditation practices that support value-based integrated medical and BH care. Milliman, Inc. partners with CS, LLC by assisting with business and financial consequences as integrated practices are created, i.e., it connects integrated medical and BH care delivery with associated actuarial projections of healthcare costs and potential margins and 2) assists with the transition of payment support for BH services in an integrated medical system to “medical” benefits. *The term ”integrated care” indicates that medical and BH services are part of a unified medical care delivery process. Except for BH services that can only be effectively delivered in a specialty BH sector, as with other medical specialties, all BH assessments and treatments are provided as part of standard and unified care in the medical setting. There are now numerous value-based integrated medical and BH programs that have been shown to improve patient health and save health care dollars for inpatients, outpatients, emergency services, and across treatment platforms. Integrated BH setting services will remain in the specialty BH sector, but they will become part of the same type of medical/surgical subspecialty services in a unified medical system.
