In 1945 startte Herman Bakker een winkel aan de Bos en Lommerweg in Amsterdam-West. Samen met zijn zoons Carel en Coos werd in 1962 in Amsterdam Tussenmeer een tweede filiaal van Radio West geopend. Sinds november 2020 is BCC onderdeel van Mirage Retail Group, het concern achter vertrouwde en vernieuwende winkelformules in Nederland, waaronder Blokker en Intertoys. Op 21 september 2023 heeft de rechtbank Amsterdam de op 14 september 2023 aan BCC Holding B.V., BCC Keuken B.V., BCC (Elektro-Speciaalzaken) B.V. en BCC Holding Amstelveen B.V. (hierna “BCC”) verleende surseance van betaling omgezet in faillissement.
