CArpe Diem of Virginia Inc. Information

Carpe Diem of Virginia was licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services in 1992. Our first set of foster parents were approved in 1993. Carpe Diem was founded by John C. Faircloth. Mr. Faircloth has a background in residential, therapeutic foster care, the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, and many other volunteer, religious and life experiences. John Faircloth served as the Executive Director from 1992 until 2006. Carpe Diem was one of the first agencies in Hampton Roads to provide Therapeutic Foster Care and In-Home Services. Our In-Home Services program was started by Mike Terkeltaub in 1995. We provided In-Home Services from 1995 until 2010. After serving close to a thousand children, Carpe Diem decided to end its In-Home Services Program. Eliot Faircloth joined the company in 1993, and he has served as the Executive Director since 2006. Eliot Faircloth "grew up" while at Carpe Diem of Virginia, and he has greatly enjoyed the wonderful team members, foster parents, and children that he has had and will continue to have the pleasure to work with. Carpe Diem first opened its doors in a small house on King Street in Portsmouth, Virginia. We then moved to an office building in the Western Branch Area called Branch Executive Quarter. In 2000, Carpe Diem moved into its new building at 3500 Tejo Lane, Chesapeake, Virginia. This is our current office building, and it is in the Churchland/Western Branch area. Carpe Diem of Virginia is the premiere Therapeutic Foster Care Agency in Virginia. We continue to strive to provide the best product to our children and our referrals sources.
