Carolina Baby Company was established in 2007 by Jim & Marlo Poole. We are former baby & maternity independent retailers and believe that, with our background in the industry, we are able to better service today's retailer because of the understanding we have of the daily challenges and successes that the independent store owner experiences. We are committed, first and foremost, to excellent service and to building strong partnerships both with our retailers and our manufacturers. We choose to represent manufacturers who are "independent retailer friendly" and maintain MAP pricing to protect the independents from Mass Merchant and Chain Store discounting. We service a variety of independent retailers, the majority of which are baby & maternity boutiques and children's stores, gift shops and embroidery specialties, toy stores, hospital shops, and green and eco friendly stores. We believe in building long term relationships with each store through personal service, keeping our buyers updated on new manufacturers or products, special incentives, and industry news. What is a Manufacturer's Rep? A Manufacturer's Representative is simply an independent company who represents a manufacturer's product line to the retailer. Most manufacturer's reps, like Carolina Baby Company, are multi line reps, meaning we can represent many manufacturers lines at the same time. A Manufacturer's Rep only represents the manufacturer in a sales capacity. The manufacturer continues with it's position regarding shipping, invoicing , pricing, etc. There are many reasons why a manufacturer will contract with an independent rep. New manufacturers find it easier to get their product line in front of the buyer enabling the brand to grow at a better rate than it might otherwise. Established manufacturers often find it more and more difficult to maintain the level of customer service that they desire when they become busier as their brand grows and by bringing in a regional rep, they break up their territories allowing the rep to offer more personal service to each account. Some manufacturer's reps, like Carolina Baby Company, have showrooms where the buyers can come to one place and view all product lines.
