Carilion Labs Information

Carilion Labs is a full-service, regionally based laboratory system established to serve hospitals, physician practices and other health-related providers. Our core business of providing accurate, timely and cost-effective laboratory services to clinicians is a testament to our commitment to service excellence. Carilion Labs (CL) was established as an affiliate of Carilion Health System in October 1, 2005 as a for-profit business unit with 450 employees. On January 1, 2006, Carilion Consolidated Laboratory (CCL) and Chi Solutions became subsidiaries under Carilion Labs. Carilion Health System (CHS) reorganized to Carilion Clinic in July 2006, a not-for-profit, multi-specialty clinic focused on excellent patient care, research and education. The health system's roots began in 1899 and today, Carilion Clinic owns or operates 9 facilities throughout southwestern Virginia. As one of the areas biggest employers, there are 10,000 employees within the system.
