Cargiant has now closed and is no longer trading. This Page remains as a record of the business and the many people who were part of its story. Established in 1976, Cargiant grew to become the world’s largest used-car dealership and one of the UK’s leading and most successful car supermarkets. Over almost 50 years, it helped nearly one million customers find the right car at the right price, building a reputation for extensive choice, competitive pricing, assured-quality vehicles and knowledgeable, friendly service. Behind the customer experience was a large and complex operation, bringing together teams across sales, customer service, buying, finance, workshops, vehicle preparation, logistics, technology, business analysis, compliance, property, accounts, human resources and many other specialist functions. Cargiant’s greatest legacy is its people. Many colleagues built long and successful careers with the business, developing substantial expertise in a demanding, fast-moving and high-volume environment. The experience gained at Cargiant extended far beyond automotive retail and included leadership, operations, customer experience, people management, finance, technology, compliance, property and specialist technical skills. Cargiant also has an accomplished alumni network of former colleagues who have taken these skills and experiences into new organisations, where they have continued to make significant contributions and become highly valued members of their teams. The business and its teams received numerous industry awards, including Car Supermarket of the Year, Car Retailer of the Year and recognition in the Motor Trader Top 50 Independent Dealers.
