Now the American Express Visit www.theamexgolf.com CareerBuilder Challenge The CareerBuilder Challenge is a 72-hole PGA TOUR event held in January in La Quinta, CA, and features 156 of the worlds’ best golfers playing for a $5.8 million purse. The CareerBuilder Challenge Pro-Am provides the ultimate thrill for golf enthusiasts. The three-day Pro-Am Format affords amateurs the only opportunity in the world to tee it up with six PGA TOUR professionals during their competitive tournament rounds. As part of the FedExCup Playoffs, the tournament often provides the winners of the event a precursor to a successful season. The tournament is played at the famed Stadium Course at PGA WEST, the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA WEST, and the La Quinta Country Club. Since its introduction in 1960 as the Palm Springs Golf Classic, the tournament has generated more than $58 million for numerous non-profit organizations in the Coachella Valley. In turn, those organizations enrich the lives of Valley residents in innumerable ways. The CareerBuilder Challenge continues to honor the memory of Bob Hope, who became the tournament host in 1965 and served as a constant presence until his passing in 2003 at age 100. Every year, the tournament winner is presented with the Bob Hope Trophy.
