CarbonLab is a carbon and energy management collaboration which aims to deliver innovative research and training to industry & government. The CarbonLab team is made up of leading researchers and industry experts and is based at the University of Queensland (UQ). We have extensive research, business, economics, policy and engineering experience in developing carbon, energy and sustainable management solutions. Essentially, CarbonLab is a collaboration of leading experts working in a variety of disciplines (e.g. economics, science and energineering) from UQ, government and industry. CarbonLab facilitates the sharing of research and delivery of advisory projects accross a number of areas including energy systems and management, climate policy and carbon finance. CarbonLab members have worked with many organisations to understand, manage and implement carbon and energy solutions to improve productivity and sustainability outcomes. These organisations have included: One Harvest, Billabong International, Xstrata Coal, Dairy Australia, the International Energy Centre, Goldfields Ashanti, International Council on Minerals and Mining, Arrow Energy, Australian Country Choice, Sugar Research Development Corporation, various Queensland State Government departments, LCR Group, Low Carbon Australia, the Fitzroy Basin Association, Queensland Murray Darling Basin Association and Utilitas Bioenergy. ur UQ-SMART collaboration initiative with industry and government won us the prestigious BHERT Award in 2012. From Australia to the EU and from China to the US, emission trading is increasingly being chosen as the preferred public policy option to manage greenhouse gas emissions. Organisations of all types will need to adapt to a price on carbon. The CarbonLab acknowledges that emissions trading, and more broadly carbon management, as a new and significant challenge for government and business.
