History The CAR Centre Automotive Research was founded in 2000 as a university institution. 2009 Relocation to the University of Duisburg-Essen. 2013 Foundation of the start-up D+S-Automotive GmbH and close cooperation with CAR. 2020 Repositioning Spin-off of the CAR Centre Automotive Research as a private-sector research institute and merger with D+S-Automotive GmbH.
