Capital Region Collaborative Information

The Capital Region Collaborative is a cooperative effort between government, business, and the community to identify and implement regional priorities that will enhance the quality of life in the Richmond Region. The CRC was formed to address issues that are not confined by city or county limits. It is a partnership to improve the quality of life across the Richmond Region of Virginia. The CRC evolved from discussion between the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and became a regional effort to engage government, business, and community stakeholders in prioritizing and implementing actions that will enhance the quality of life in the Richmond Region. Instead of conducting another top-down exercise, the partners set out to engage the public to identify issues, set priorities, and be a part of the solution. The region does not need another quick, visioning activity, but a sustained collaboration between government, business, and the community. The nine jurisdictions of the Richmond Region include the City of Richmond, the Town of Ashland, and the Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Powhatan, and New Kent. Those nine local governments work together on issues of regional concern through the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission. The businesses of the region come together as members of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The work of the CRC is coordinated by the Organizing Council, comprised of business, government, and community representatives. The Organizing Council is staffed by the CRC Project Manager, who coordinates with the staff of the GRCC and RRPDC.
