Cape Cod Colonial Tables Information

Cape Cod Colonial Tables was established in 2002 by Bob Benson after more than forty years of reconstructions, redesigning and refinishing antique furniture and cabinets as a hobby. After retirement from forty years in the retail and fly fishing industry, my hands sought to go back to the humble beginnings and the beauty of wood. Suddenly I was tearing down barns, buying reclaimed lumber, sanding, scraping, staining, gluing and making something raw and beautiful into something useful and useable forever. (The Creator): I like that title. It's new and catchy. I've been owner, manager, guide, teacher, buyer, hunter, fisherman, naturalist, filmmaker, television producer, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Creator of Beautiful Wood. It's rewarding making things from humble beginnings. (My son Chris): Chris has recently taken on a new venue working from wood's humble beginnings by making countertops from reclaimed lumber. We have been working together in one way or another for forty some odd years. He prides himself on making these magnificent kitchen counters. She works full time with an investment adviser and is mesmerized by my morning to night work ethic. I always tell her that she has two speeds - fast and stop, while I pride myself on a steady pace from virtual dawn till dusk. She also sidelines as table mover extraordinaire and claims that in order to constantly lift, turn, move and move again all my tables is why she goes to the gym five days a week. I often wonder if she means she goes there in order to gain strength or to get away from all the table work.
