Cantatica Information

CANTATICA is a non-profit music organization devoted to broadening the scope of vocal and instrumental chamber music - its programming, performance and cultural connections. As a performing organization (CANTATICA CHAMBER ARTISTS and CANTATICA CHAMBER CHOIR) and resource center, CANTATICA seeks to contribute fresh ideas and new perspectives to the art and excellence of choral, vocal and instrumental chamber music. With special emphasis on American music as well as new and lesser known musical works world-wide, it further aims to celebrate and promote greater appreciation of the many wonderful musical styles and musicians in existence today. CANTATICA was founded in 2007 in the Allentown, Pennsylvania by its Executive/Artistic Director and Conductor, Michael Tamte-Horan. While maintaining its administrative office in Allentown, the performing ensembles of CANTATICA are currently in the process of relocating to the Philadelphia area. Beginning in the fall of 2013, they will rehearse in North Philadelphia, and present programs in the Greater Philadelphia area, the Lehigh Valley, and Eastern Pennsylvania. The CANTATICA CHAMBER ARTISTS and CHAMBER CHOIR are dynamic, professional performing ensembles dedicated to presenting high quality, innovative performances of a broad and eclectic range of musical styles including classical, jazz, contemporary, folk/world, theater, a cappella, gospel, and crossover. They are further devoted to strengthening, enriching and diversifying the musical offerings throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and beyond. Membership in the ensembles consists of solo singers, a 12-voice chamber choir, and various instrumentalists including piano/organ/keyboards, strings, percussion, guitar/lute, harp, and winds. All members are classically trained, versatile and highly competent performers from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
