Not every candy maker is a member of these associations as each one of them fills specific needs of its members which may or may not be the needs of a candy maker. For example, a local candy maker with a local market may truly get the most out of belonging to their community's chamber of commerce. However, establishing exportation of your product to other countries may hit hurdles with legislation and resources availabe to be successful. National Confectioners Association - NCA, organized in 1884 is based in Vienna, Virginia, USA and claims upwards of 700 members world-wide. They also share the same address as the Chocolate Manufacturers' Association. Food Institute - 2200 members world-wide, founded in 1928. Plentiful resources on food labeling, impacting legislation affecting confectioners. Not so focused on confections, but great resources on exportating and importing products. Cocoa Merchants Association of America - Founded in 1924 and based in NYC. Membership is small and very industry specific. Very helpful in the import of cocoa to the USA and maybe to other parts of the globe.
