Candles Mentoring Information

Candles is a UX mentoring platform, aimed at helping the UX community seek out mentors to further their career. The name "Candles" comes from a conversation Tom and Tabrez were having on the power of mentoring. Tabrez recalled a story told by his father, a Chartered Accountant who spent years training and mentoring juniors. People would ask “why waste your time teaching others?”. He would respond with “…if your candle is already lit, you lose nothing by lighting some one else’s candle. You share your knowledge, and the light only spreads”. Tom met Tabrez with a vision to connect UXers across the world. To create a network of knowledge and skills, and a platform for mentoring. Candles was born. We aim to have the mentoring platform launched very soon, but in the meantime we have a Slack group of over 4700 Users across the globe.
