We were originally set up as the cancer support centre in 1988 and provided a counselling service to those affected by cancer. By 1990 almost 300 patients and carers a year were receiving support and income maintenance had been recognised as a critical issue for many. Action was taken and a dedicated welfare rights advice service was set up as one of the first in the country. In 1995 we relocated to larger premises in Daisy Bank opposite Bradford Royal Infirmary. A close working relationship with oncology health professionals and local GP's brought a dramatic increase in referrals for services and by 2005 we had again outgrown our premises. In September 2008 we moved into the new purpose built premises. Patients and their families again had access to all our services on one site and were very close to Bradford Royal Infirmary. Today we are seeing over 3500 people per year across the Bradford and Airedale district and still offer all our key services under one roof. We are constantly striving to meet the needs of cancer patients now and in the future. With our Silver Jubilee year now upon us we are working hard through our fundraising drive to ensure that we can be here for another 25 years.
