Fondée en 1983 à Paris, KOOKAÏ connaît dès son lancement un succès immédiat d’abord en France, puis à l’étranger et en particulier en Australie. C'est donc tout naturellement que la marque intègre le groupe australien Magi en 2017. Au global, la nouvelle entité comprend plus de 200 points de vente et des distributeurs à travers le monde. KOOKAÏ reste fidèle à ses origines en proposant un vestiaire imprégné de chic parisien et de cool australien, permettant aux femmes d'exprimer leur individualité et une féminité assumée. Les collections sont conçues exclusivement dans nos studios de Paris et de Melbourne à travers un processus créatif symbiotique. La démarche responsable est au cœur du projet de l’entreprise : KOOKAÏ a développé ses propres usines de fabrication, permettant d’assurer en toute transparence des conditions de travail décentes, respectueuses des salariés et de l’environnement. L'essentiel des collections KOOKAÏ est produit dans nos propres usines au Sri-Lanka. Deux autres usines sont situées aux îles Fidji et approvisionnent les marchés d’Océanie. C’est un changement de model radical qui s’inscrit dans une démarche sociétale et responsable beaucoup plus globale grâce à la fondation Katalyst qui opère aux îles Fidji.
