Canadian Food Innovators Information

CFI is committed to furthering innovation along Canada's food value chain. CFI networks Canadian food and beverage processors with resources available at FoodTech Canada centres http://www.foodtechcanada.ca/, Canada's food universities and community colleges, and at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's research centres. CFI was the successful applicant for Canada's first food and beverage processing cluster under Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Growing Forward 2 Agri-Science cluster program. CFI is currently leading a submission to the Canadian Agricultural Partnership's Agri-Science cluster initiative. CFI was chosen by the Guelph Food Technology Centre Legacy Fund Board for an endowment from the proceeds of industry funds raised when the GFTC was sold to NSF International. Those endowed funds have been offered to innovators to support food innovation in the current cluster. CFI's member is Food and Beverage Canada, Canada's newly relaunched national voice for over 1,500 Canadian food and beverage manufacturers from coast to coast. As the member, Food and Beverage Canada appoints industry representatives from the provincial food industry associations to CFI's Board of Directors. CFI operates autonomously with its own Board of Directors. Leaders from the industry drawn from both large and SME firms, academia, and FoodTech Canada are represented on the Board.
