Established by Congress in 1965, the National Endowment for the Arts is an independent federal agency that is the largest funder of the arts and arts education in communities nationwide and a catalyst of public and private support for the arts. By advancing opportunities for arts participation and practice, the NEA fosters and sustains an environment in which the arts benefit everyone in the United States.
APAP, the Association of Performing Arts Professionals is based in Washington, D.C., is the national service, advocacy and membership organization with over 1600 member organizations, representing over 5000 professionals worldwide, dedicated to developing and supporting a robust performing arts presenting field and the professionals who work within it. Our members represent the nation’s leading performing arts centers, municipal and university performance facilities, culturally specific organizations, and foreign governments, as well as artist agencies, managers, touring companies, and national consulting practices that serve the field, and a growing roster of self-presenting artists. As a leader in the field, APAP works to effect change through advocacy, professional development, resource sharing, and civic engagement.
