Heartlight Ministries is a relationship-centered residential counseling center and school serving adolescents and families experiencing crisis. Located in East Texas, Heartlight provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where teens can experience healing, personal growth, and positive change. At the heart of the Heartlight program is professional counseling combined with intentional, life-on-life relationships. Through individual, group, and family counseling, residents are given opportunities to address emotional and behavioral struggles, family conflict, trauma, unhealthy patterns, and other challenges affecting their lives and relationships. Counseling is integrated with residential care, education, activities, and everyday interactions with caring staff to create a comprehensive approach to healing and growth. Heartlight recognizes the importance of working not only with the adolescent but also with the family. Parents and families are encouraged to participate in the counseling and growth process so that healthier communication, stronger relationships, and lasting patterns of change can be developed in preparation for a successful return home. As a faith-based Christian ministry, Heartlight seeks to demonstrate the character and love of God through compassionate care, meaningful relationships, professional counseling, accountability, and excellence in all aspects of the program. For 40 years, Camp Sunshine has provided hope, joy and community through unique experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. At our pristine campus on Sebago Lake in Maine, more than 60,000 children, siblings, parents, and caregivers from all 50 states and 27 countries have come together for fun-filled, year-round sessions with families just like theirs. And, thanks to the incredible support of donors and volunteers, our programs are 100% free.
