We are committed to enriching the lives of individuals through experiential education and adventure. At Summit we offer you the chance to embrace new challenges and confidence, while fostering friendship, excitement and fun in Squamish, British Columbia. Welcome to the world of Summit! We look forward to sharing the magic with YOU!
Camp Summit was founded in 1999 by Geoff Park 'Parky' who remains the Senior Director to this day. Camp Summit is a private, non-denominational, co-ed overnight camp and outdoor education centre founded on the principals of the Ontario camping movement in which Parky was brought up in. Camp had such a profound influence in Parky's life that immediately following university he started the camp from the ground up with a goal of providing the same life changing experiences he had at camp. From its humble beginnings renting small cabins in Whistler with a total of only 40 campers its first year, Parky's commitment has grown Summit into one of the most highly regarded Summer Camps in BC seeing a return rate of campers of over 90% from year to year and over 700 campers each summer. The senior leadership programs develop strong young leaders from within and a majority of our staff have grown up at camp and instill the values they learned to the next generation.
Our Outdoor Education Centre works with almost all of the top Independent Schools in the lower mainland as well as many local and lower mainland public schools.
Camp Maple Leaf is a registered charity, providing children of Canadian military families and children who share similar unique life challenges a camp to call their own. We currently operate two overnight camps for children - our original flagship camp in the Kawartha region of Ontario and our newest location, opening in 2022 just west of Fredericton, New Brunswick. At each location, Camp Maple Leaf upholds a strong culture of inclusion and belonging, supports and celebrates our campers for who they are, and fosters friendships that follow them home.
Established in 1955 by the Canadian Council of War Veterans Associations, Camp Maple Leaf has served thousands of children over its 65 year history.
Our vision is that children with unique life challenges have camp friends who share their experiences and help them thrive.
Our strategic focus: By 2024, we will serve 2000 children every year with unique life challenges at 3 camps, in 3 regions of Canada.
Unfortunately, overnight camping will not be taking place at either Camp Sunrise this summer. This decision has not come easily but is one that is in line with the current BC Provincial Guidelines as well as The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory. We recognize that this announcement will bring sadness, loss, and many questions with it as you process what this means. Please know, we are fully committed to providing summer ministry in other forms this summer. Please reach out if you have questions but also know that we may still be working on those answers in the coming weeks. Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and continued prayers as we navigate all the uncertainty in the days ahead.
