After joining the United States Marine Corps out of Nebraska, I was given a sense of purpose, a direction and a set of skills that are applicable to all aspects of life; punctuality, integrity, and commitment. In March of 2015 after separating with an Honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, I found myself in a void. This void was caused by many things, but the lack of purpose seemed the be the most prevalent. In the military, everything you do has purpose, meaning, and history to it. Once I stepped out of the military environment I expected my skill set to transfer perfectly into the civilian sector, that was not that case. In most cases companies are looking for degrees, not experience. The idea of Cammies to Careers came about after hours of struggling through paperwork and being pushed from one website to another to only continue to get unclear answers and vague options. Cammies to Careers was officially founded in November of 2017 and it is looking to form a pipeline from day one of transition, whether it be to education or career. By building partnerships with companies nationwide as well as schools all around the country we will be able to guide, mentor and continue to lead our Veterans into success. Through the Cammies to Careers system we will be able to successfully assimilate our Veterans back into society and allow them to lead small projects, large companies or board meetings.
