The California Deserts Visitors Association was the tourism marketing association for the California deserts region up until April, 2013. The CDVA partnered with the California Travel & Tourism Commission/Visit California, to promote the California deserts as a visitor destination domestically and internationally. A new DMO organization for the California Desert Region has been formed as of April, 2013 and is administered through the Greater Palm Springs Oasis CVB in Rancho MIrage. Steve Brown has stepped down as CDVA president in order to focus on Southwest Stories with Steve Brown, a new PBS TV show on the deserts of the American Southwest, as well as his regional publication, The Sun Runner Magazine, the Joshua Tree Tortoise Telegraph, and the Joshua Tree Gateway Communities Visitor Guide. Sun Runner Media will continue to promote the California deserts and the Southwest for travel and tourism purposes. Look for them at the LA Travel & Adventure Show, on KVCR PBS TV across southern California, and in print across the desert region.
