Byssal was formed by passionate West Aussies with local Western Australian challenges in mind. We pride ourselves on our ‘on water’ actions, collectively working toward tangible outcomes to enhance our oceans. Driven by a bias for action, Byssal harnesses natural aquafarming techniques to actively regenerate, rewild, and enrich marine ecosystems—ensuring they flourish with vibrant, resilient biodiversity. Byssal reintroduces natural marine species (such as mussels, oysters, seagrasses etc.), via proven aquafarming techniques (or restorative/ regenerative aquaculture), into affected ecosystems to rebuild biodiversity and rebalance local ecosystem health! Byssal is a collaboration between Western Australian experts with decades of experience in the relevant fields of natural resource management and policy, aquatic sciences and ecology, marine aquaculture and restoration, and commercial marine operations.
