Hazelwood School is an independent coeducational school set amongst 25 acres of glorious woodlands on the Surrey Kent border. Established in 1890 the school is vibrant and thriving, valuing the traditions of the past and embracing the best of modern education. In September 2009 the school merged with Laverock to create a second green site, in the middle of Oxted. This site houses the school's Nursery and our Reception children, combining the Early Years Foundation Stage successfully in one location. Every child is unique and choosing the right school for your child is a complex process. Some parents are looking for sporting opportunities, others for music or drama. Some are looking at academic achievement, others at pastoral care. At Hazelwood we recognise that all of these factors will play an enormous part in your child's development. If the balance is right, your child will enjoy school and thrive on the opportunities that we offer to them. The atmosphere within the school is, I feel, quite remarkable. The pupils are quite special; they have a real sense of pride for their school. They are secure, happy and willing to have a go. Independence and curiosity are encouraged and nurtured, and the children who leave us at thirteen are ready for the new opportunities and challenges that they will face at their secondary schools. In 2016 our pupils were rewarded with 22 fabulous scholarships with our leavers heading off to a wide variety of first choice Senior Schools including Tonbridge, Benenden, Ardingly, Worth, Hurstpierpoint College, Trinity, Brighton College, Bedes, Bryanston, Lingfield Notre Dame, Caterham and Woldingham. Do please come and visit us and see firsthand what we are all about. We are a school where childhood is valued for as long as possible with traditional family values at the core of our care.
