Bus Stop Films Information

Bus Stop Films is an award-winning, disability-led not-for-profit social enterprise changing how the world sees disability, one film at a time. Founded in 2009, we use skills development, production and the screen industry to shift community attitudes globally around the rights and contributions of people with disability and other marginalised communities. We've produced over 120 short films, won 100+ awards. Reached 45 million+ viewers worldwide. In 2026 we're releasing our first feature film Boss Cat. Our films screen at international festivals and on streaming platforms globally. Inclusive filmmaking doesn't compromise budgets, shoot times or quality. It elevates them. We BUILD Through our nationwide Accessible Filmmaking Program, delivered in partnership with Australia's leading film schools, we build far more than filmmaking skills. Adults with intellectual disability or autism gain confidence, creative voice and deep social connections, forming friendships and finding community for the first time. From story development and scriptwriting to camera, sound, lighting, producing and directing, our participants don't just learn the craft they find belonging, purpose and a pathway into the screen industry. We CREATE Our participants collaborate with award-winning industry professionals to produce exceptional short films that reach audiences around the world proving that inclusive filmmaking makes better films. We ADVOCATE We drive disability confidence across the screen industry, challenge outdated attitudes, and champion the rights and contributions of people with disability and other marginalised communities on screen and behind the camera and the world at large. We FACILITATE We open doors. As leading sector inclusion consultants, we partner with production companies and brands to build genuinely inclusive screen practices, while supporting d/Deaf and disabled and neurodivergent creatives into paid employment through Bus Stop Employment.
