BuildingTransparency.org’s core mission is to provide the open access data and tools necessary to enable broad and swift action across the building industry in addressing embodied carbon’s role in climate change. BuildingTransparency.org currently provides actionable information about embodied carbon in construction via the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) tool. It provides services including : • Free, easy-to-use database(s) of construction materials and their environmental impacts, utilizing third party verified environmental product declaration (EPDs). • Ability to view and compare embodied carbon impacts of selected materials manufacturers and products based on your geography, performance requirements and materials selections • Free user interface and published methodology that enables clear, transparent embodied carbon limits and reductions to be set, achieved and reported • Security and confidentiality of proprietary and personal data • Transparent, open access software to be used to further supply chain market transformation, to the extent that is reasonable and prudent with respect to security, privacy, licenses, and other obligations. • Digital EPD integration to optimize and accelerate disclosure and reduction of material environmental impacts • User support for fast adoption and easy integration into existing AEC workflows, specifications and procurement documents.
