BTG Bioliquids wants to contribute to a cleaner energy supply by substituting fossil fuels with fuels from renewable sources. This will be done through the delivery and deployment of technology for converting green biomass residues and organic residues into pyrolysis oil in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable manner. The world is changing fast. The availability of fossil fuels is decreasing and the impact of burning fossil fuels on our climate is becoming ever more obvious. There is an urgent need to develop a sustainable energy supply. BTG Bioliquids has identified biomass residues as a suitable feedstock and pyrolysis as an innovative conversion technology to replace fossil fuels. Pyrolysis liquids can be stored, traded, transported and applied universally, just like mineral oil. Pyrolysis allows the decoupling of biofuel production and its actual use. Current applications for pyrolysis liquids include combustion and gasification. In the years to come new applications will be developed, allowing the use of upgraded pyrolysis liquids as transport fuels or as the feedstock for a biorefinery.
