Brownsville Community Development Information

In 1982, BCDC established the Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center(BMS), and Article 28, family heatlh center uniquely responsive to the healthcare needs of the community residents. BMS has grown dramatically in correlation with the increasing needs of the residents for health services beyond primary care - offering a wide range of medcal and non medical services. BMS is a comprehensive health and wellness facility, and the only freestanding health center in Brooklyn to be accredited by the Joint Commission. We operate out of eight service sites adhering to our commitment to treating the "whole person" which is reflected in our adoption of an "integrated, one-stop primary health care" service matrix; a model of primary care that is patterned on a progressive privat practice.
