Bronx Charter School for Excellence is ranked the 4th highest performing K–8 public school in New York State, which includes all traditional public schools and charter schools. Located in Parkchester, it offers a challenging academic program complemented by parent-driven initiatives, school-wide events and an extensive extra-curricular offering. BCSE has received an A in NYC Department of Education Project Reports for the last four years and was recently named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award Nominee, a program that sets a standard of excellence for all schools striving for the highest level of achievement. The mission of the Bronx Charter School for Excellence is to prepare young people from New York City to compete for admission to and succeed in top public, private, and parochial high schools by cultivating their intellectual, artistic, social, emotional and ethical development. The school will accomplish this by offering a challenging and rigorous academic curriculum – which at the earliest of grades will have an eye towards college preparation. We will achieve this in a supportive and caring environment that all times has high expectations of our students. BCSE is one of New York’s true success stories. What began as a K-5 public school alternative for children in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, has flourished into the highest performing charter school in the state. Today, BCSE serves more than 440 children and their families and recently expanded to include a middle school ultimately serving grades K-8. BCSE’s challenging academic program is complemented by parent-driven initiatives, school-wide events and an extensive extra-curricular offering that work together to enrich the total child. Every scholar, parent, staff and board member has a personal responsibility for the school’s success. As a result, BCSE has dramatically improved academic results and a culture of excellence that serves as a successful model for schools everywhere.
