Komedia is Bath’s leading live entertainment venue. Hosting over 400 events per year in the beautifully restored Grade II listed former Beau Nash cinema, Komedia Bath offers an unparalleled programme of comedy, music, cabaret and club nights.
Our mission is to inspire and enable artists to be their most creative and to champion the power of the arts to enrich and change lives. We believe in the transformative power of the arts and that they can provide a catalyst for social change for good.
As custodians of the Grade I and Grade II listed Brighton Dome, which is part of the iconic Royal Pavilion Estate, we present a rich and varied programme spanning music, theatre, dance, comedy, literature, spoken word, visual arts, film, digital, community and participatory events.
Our magnificent building, Brighton Dome, has been standing for over 200 years - a beacon for the community. Starting as a riding stable for Prince Regent and transforming into many guises thereafter from a place of protest and solidarity for Suffragettes to temporary hospital in WWI, a refuge for wartime dance in World War II and even a roller-skating venue. Brighton Dome is an extraordinary space in which to bring the arts alive.
We produce Brighton Festival, the largest curated annual arts festival in England. Renowned for its pioneering spirit and experimental reputation since 1967, Brighton Festival has become one of the city’s most enduring symbols of inventiveness. Since 2009 we have welcomed a major cultural figure to guest curate and enhance the prestige of the artistic programme. Anish Kapoor, Brian Eno, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael Rosen, Hofesh Shechter, Ali Smith, Laurie Anderson, Kate Tempest, David Shrigley and Lemn Sissay have contributed significantly to our innovative programming as Guest Director.
A hub for artists across the region, we commission and support both emerging and established artists and companies, enabling them to develop, take risks and deliver work of the highest quality.
The third part of our arts portfolio is a strong music education service that teaches over 4k children and young people music across East and West Sussex.

The Old Market (or TOM, as we like to call it) was opened in 2011 by creators of the global percussive phenomenon STOMP to create an independent hub for the arts in their home city and channel some of their success back in to the local arts eco system. Under the directorship of Loretta Sacco and starting with just two staff in 2011, we now employ a passionate and engaged team of 46 full, part time and casual staff to deliver our busy schedule.
The festival-like programme at TOM is the cornerstone of our identity. We host over 200 different events every year from our multi-format (300 seat, 500 standing capacity) space. Over 55,000 people come through our doors each year to experience live music, film, boundary breaking theatre, dance, cabaret, comedy, literature, workshops and performances using new technologies, as part of our #TOMtech programme.
We are proud to work with local artists, major cultural festivals, independent promoters and esteemed national arts organisations, bringing even greater breadth to our programme. Of course, we always keep an open mind for the future, and with the introduction of our Gig for a Gig scheme, we’re also proud to support the best emerging talent and nurture their growth so that the arts can thrive for years to come.
Keep an eye out for our ‘TOM’ tags - these indicate our hand-picked events that we know you’ll love. Follow us on social media, we post interesting stuff and occasionally we can be a bit funny. Have a drink in the intimate setting of TOM’s Bar. Do all of this, and most importantly, come and see what’s going on at Brighton’s ‘hidden gem’ (not our words…)
We can’t wait to welcome you soon!
