In 2024, Briggs Health Solutions assumed the patents and intellectual property for products developed by Briggs Belt Systems, a division of the Briggs Development Group. The Briggs Development Group, founded in 1969, has been a long-standing engineering, design and innovation firm. Founded by Dr. Aubrey Briggs, a famed pioneer in innovation and engineering, that today holds more than 35 patents in fields of large ship unloading, material handling, environmental control and military equipment. In 2014, Dr. Briggs passed away and turned control of the business over to his son, Leonard Briggs, himself, an accomplished engineer and inventor, to continue the work of providing innovation with technology to improve people’s lives. The Briggs name is also synonymous with their giving and philanthropy work. Dr. Briggs gave generously of his time and resources to help others, including the invention and placement of a large water-delivery system to the African nation of Malawi to help bring fresh water from the mountains to their towns.
