Bridging Care was created as a joint venture between two 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations: Washington Academy of International Medical Graduates (WAIMG) and Angels for Angels. Washington Academy of International Medical Graduates’ mission is to create more diverse physicians serving diverse populations in Washington State. As a physician-led organization that cares about health equity and is working to address language and communication barriers, eliminating any barrier between physicians and patients is important for WAIMG. Angels for Angels’ mission is to help community leaders create and scale locally-led and sustainable social projects. At the core of Angels for Angels’ mission is creating lasting change, inspired and led by the community itself, exactly what Bridging Care aims to do. Bridging Care is a vehicle that connects the missions of both organizations by connecting the foreign trained medical professionals of diverse communities with those very community members inside of the local health context, in a way that is both sustainable and led by the community itself.
